Entry forms and fees should be submitted by the Wednes-day evening preceding the show, to allow time for organisa-tion of vases, paperwork etc. Points are given to all placed entries and trophies awarded accordingly. In addition there are a few Open classes which can be entered on the day.

Entries must be brought to the hall between 8am and 9.45am prompt on the morning of the show and the hall vacated by 10am to allow judging to take place.

All trophies are perpetual and must be returned to the Show Secretary at least 3 days beforehand.

We welcome all entries and urge members to try a class. The committee are very happy to give help and advice when required.

What's it like to enter the Show?

All members may enter exhibits in the Shows, and we do encourage new members to have a try!  We can guarantee that on your first visit to a show you will see exhibits that will make you think: “I’ve got that at home!  I could have entered…”.  Take a look at the photos of previous shows on our gallery page, and you will see how it’s very much a show for everyone.

On the day of the show, bring your exhibits to the village hall first thing in the morning and arrange them according to the definitions in the schedule.  Click here for a helpful guide to displaying show entries – the Society also has a copy of the RHS book which sets out the rules for showing, and which can be borrowed by any member.  There will be committee members and other helpers who can give advice and encouragement.

The Show doors are then closed while judging takes place, then we all return at 3pm with our friends and relatives to see who’s won, enjoy refreshments and attend the prize-giving.

Good luck everyone!

PDFTips for Showing’ is available free of charge to any member who would like more details on how to show vegetables, flowers and cookery exhibits. We can also loan out a copy of the RHS Horticultural Show Hand-book which gives further information.

You will see that we have cookery and produce classes as well as gardening.
If you have children or grandchildren, this is a great opportunity to get them interested in gardening too.
